The Kindle lockscreen always has been. Either you chose a cheaper e-reader with ads or you got random stock photos of … pens and inkwells. But now Amazon has finally given bookworms what they want: the ability to use book covers as lockscreens.

To get the position, you need to have a relatively recent ad-free Kindle to get the feature. Eligible models include Kindle (8th generation or later), Kindle Paperwhite (7th generation or later), Kindle Oasis (8th generation or later), and Kindle Voyage 7th generation. If you are not sure what generation Kindle device you have, you can take a look at this listYou can also go to Settings> Device Options> Device Info to find and compare your Kindle’s serial number with this listAnd if you’re still confused, you can always go to your account information on Amazon, click “Your Devices and Content”, go to the Devices tab and check there.

To enable the feature, go to the Device Options menu in Settings. At the top you should see a Show Cover switch. The book cover displayed is of the book, magazine, comic or manga you are currently reading. That’s great, but also something to watch out for in case you do do not wants people to know. (Listen, everyone deserves to read their trashy guilty pleasure novels in peace. We only judge pretentious turds who want to show off ‘casually’ that they ‘read’ Is infinite or Ulysses

Again, this feature is only available if you have an ad-free Kindle. If you have an ad-supported version, you can upgrade for $ 20 by moving up customer service or do it yourself from the “Manage Your Content and Devices” tab in the account settings.

If you don’t see the option yet, don’t worry. Make sure your Kindle is running the latest firmware and try a good one old Restarting. Also, keep in mind that the feature is currently in the middle of the global rollout process – it may not have reached you yet.
