CLEVELAND – US attorney Justin Herdman has issued a warning to residents of Northeast Ohio who traveled to Washington DC to protest the Electoral College’s certification of President-elect Joe Biden. He said anyone who participated in illegal acts in the chaos will be prosecuted.
“I still have two days left for this job. I can go with very little sleep in that remaining time. If these people, or anyone else who has committed federal crimes in the Capitol today, is from Northern Ohio, you will be held accountable before I leave, ”Herdman tweeted. “Coffee is brewing …”

Herdman announced last month that he would be leaving in January. Bridget Brennan, the US’s first assistant attorney, will take over this month.

Early Wednesday morning, hundreds of Donald Trump supporters traveled by bus to Washington to join the planned protests. About 250-300 supporters were seen with signs and flags boarding the bus leaving Garfield Heights just after 2am

Congress convened on Wednesday in a joint session in a constitutionally mandated process to count electoral college votes and formally select President-elect Joe Biden the winner of the 2020 election, until supporters of President Trump broke through barricades around the Capitol and enforce a lockdown. and evacuation of legislators.
Police say they believe protesters could enter the Capitol by pouring chemical irritants on law enforcement.
Metropolitan Police confirm one person was shot and killed in the Capitol.

CNN reported that at least two explosives have been found around DC today.
President-elect Joe Biden said the events were not a protest but an “uprising” and called on President Trump to “act.”
The National Guard was later deployed to quell the unrest. It is not known if any Ohioans were arrested.
Washington currently has a city-wide curfew.
