The New York Yankees are in a pretty tough time In this MLB season starter, they are the team with the worst record in the American League, Their starting pitching doesn’t work, their attack leaves a lot to be desired and poor defensive fundamentals have cost them a lot in recent games. One of the players who did the worst is veteran Jay Bruce, who has made a drastic decision after only two weeks in the campaign.
Bruce announced through a press statement that he will retire permanently from the Major Leagues after 14 seasons, and made the decision, according to Lindsey Adler of The Athletic, after a lengthy conversation with Yankees manager Aaron Boone, to whom he explained his reasons for making of your decision to end your career.
In the Yankees, Bruce struggled to catch up, hitting .118 with only 3 hits in 34 at-bats, with one homerun and three RBI’s, replacing Luke Voit until he returned from injury.
Bruce had a great career, as he was named three times in the All-Star Game, twice Silver Bat, 319 homers in total, 1,455 hits, 951 RBI’s and 20 WAR in total.
