Yankees Rougned Odor deal with Rangers

NEW YORK – The Yankees strike a deal to acquire infielder Rougned Odor from the Rangers, a source told MLB.com on Tuesday. The clubs have not announced the transaction.

Texas is expected to take on nearly all of the remaining $ 27 million on Odor’s contract for the next two seasons. The 27-year-old was designated on March 29 for an assignment and projects to serve as depth for New York.

It is not yet known what the Yankees will send to the Rangers. MLB Network insider Joel Sherman reported that two potential clients will be heading to Texas.

Lefthanded Odor batted .167 with 10 home runs and 30 RBI’s in 38 games for Texas last season. He owns a slash line of .237 / .289 / .439 (88 OPS +) in 858 big league games from 2014-20, all with the Rangers. But he has hit 30 or more home runs in a season three times in his career.

Odor only played second base in his big league-career, a position that has been regularly occupied by DJ LeMahieu, the most valuable player of the Yankees, for the past two seasons.
