Yankees and Red Sox agree to trade rare majors

In their history in the majors, Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees they have never worked very well with each other on the foreign exchange market. Their most recent to date was one in 2014 that involved players Stephen Drew and Kelly Johnson. And now, seven years later, they have once again agreed on a deal whereby the Bronx Mules have agreed to hand over their Boston rival to the reliever. Adam Ottavino.

The change has been reported by various media outlets. The Athletic was the first to announce the transaction. ESPN reporter Buster Olney later confirmed.

In the company, Boston acquires a reliever who agreed to a $ 27 million three-year deal with the Yankees in 2019. The move appears to be essentially one that will cause New York to release some of its financial liabilities, in its best interest to go into the season with payroll that does not exceed the limits of the highest luxury tax fines. To close the deal, the Yankees will pay as much as $ 850,000 of Ottavino’s salary by 2021.

Ottavino is off a not very good season. In 24 appearances in the shortened 2020 season, he had a 5.89 ERA and dropped three save opportunities to save.

In 2019, he had an 1.90 ERA in 73 appearances.
