Xiomara Castro: ‘It is my responsibility to lead the alliance’

TEGUCIGALPA, HONDURAS.- The candidate of the Freedom and Re-establishment Party (Free), Xiomara Castro de Zelaya, clarified this Monday that it “corresponds to leading the alliance.”

The foregoing was written in a tweet in which he expressed his firm stance not to give up his candidacy for president in the event of the union with the Liberal Party being sealed.

“In intense dialogue with Yani RosenthalBased on my results, I stated that it is my responsibility to lead the alliance. He asked for time. I will be sure to be the candidate. The technical teams will be discussing other issues we can agree on next Monday, “Castro wrote.

Hours earlier, the former first lady admitted that on the first approach with the rojiblanco party candidate “there is still no alliance for president”.

“No agreements have yet been made on the issue of the head of the alliance. At the next meeting they will talk about who will lead the alliance, ” said the politician, who in turn reported that the second meeting was scheduled for Monday, March 26.

Both candidates made it clear that if an alliance is made, it would only happen at the municipal and presidential level, although they did not provide further details on the matter.

Invitation

The meeting was promoted by Xiomara Castro de Zalaya just minutes after the National Electoral Council (CNE) will make her official as the winner of the primaries Freedom and Restoration party (Free).

Salvador Nasralla and Luis Zelaya were invited to the meeting, but only the Liberal candidate, Yani Rosenthal, was in attendance, accompanied by several leaders of the red-white-red flag entity.

The Libre party’s former presidential candidates, Nelson Ávila and Wilfredo Méndez, were not present at the meeting, which announced they will sign the ‘alliance of fairness’.
