The first map of February 2021 has those two inevitable culprits in the top spots: Modern Warfare in 1st and Black Ops Cold War in 2nd, with the rest of the top ten rearranged below as usual. A little further down, however, the power of Xbox Game Pass is at work with Bloober Team’s psychological horror game The Medium first releasing on the 15th. Today, Bloober Team announced that The Medium has already sold enough to cover development and marketing costs, despite launching less than a week ago. Luke thought it was a “unique but flawed gem” and that while the $ 50 / £ 40 prices might be a bit high, it’s well worth a try if you have an Xbox Game Pass membership. You can check out Luke’s The Medium review for more information. Xbox Game Pass has also spurred a new recent release in the top 40, with Cyber Shadow in 39th place.
Sea of Thieves has now moved up two places to 16th. The game’s first season went live a few days ago with three new achievements. The developers have also added a new 120Hz Performance mode for Xbox Series X consoles. Since each season brings with it a lot of new content, we’ll likely see Sea of Thieves climb the charts even further. Cyberpunk 2077, on the other hand, has dropped three places to 17th. Recently, CD Projekt Red released hotfixes to fix a game-breaking bug introduced with the latest patch. CDPR will be working on improving Cyberpunk for quite some time, so it will be interesting to see where the game lands in future charts.
There’s a lot of realignment going on this week’s chart, with NBA 2K21, Dead by Daylight, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, PUBG, Battlefield V and Donut County all dropping to 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30 respectively. This week also brings us three recurring appearances, all neatly put together: The Division 2 is back at 36th, with Fallout 76 at 37th and Fifa 21 at 38th. Black Ops III, meanwhile, has dropped all the way from the top 40, while Skate 3, DayZ, For Honor and Injustice 2 have disappeared from this week. Soon there will be Control: Ultimate Edition which will be released tomorrow and Little Nightmares 2 will arrive later. in the month, along with any February Xbox Game Pass additions that Microsoft may have in store. Interestingly, Hitman 3, one of January’s biggest releases, has not yet appeared on our Xbox Gameplay Chart, although it is rapidly rising on our PlayStation Gameplay Chart. What do you think? Will any of February’s launches make it to the top ten? Let us know in the comments!
