WWE is celebrating the Royal Rumble tonight, one of my favorite events of the year as there are always surprises and it marks the beginning of the road to WrestleMania.
Here are my predictions. (Note: The previous version of this writing went to an abyss, so this time I have shorter predictions than usual)
For the Smackdown Women’s Championship
Sasha Banks to Carmella
PREDICTION: Sasha holds back.
For the women’s championships as a couple
Charlotte Flair and Asuka vs Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax
PREDICTION: Asuka and Flair hold back.
For the universal championship
Last man Standing
Roman Reigns v Kevin Owens
FORECAST: Reigns.
For the WWE Championship
Drew McIntyre to Goldberg
PREDICTION: McIntyre holds on.
Royal Rumble Femenino
PREDICTION: I see two scenarios here. Charlotte wins to challenge Asuka, and the most extreme part is Becky Lynch returns and wins. Charlotte won last year so I’m going for the extreme option of Becky coming back and winning.
Royal Rumble Masculino
PREDICTION: Lots of favorites here. The question is who would fit as McIntyre or Reign’s challengers in Mania.
Bryan and Big E would be my two favorites on the Smackdown side. Raw is more complicated because we have Edge, Orton, Sheamus, Styles and Lashley. I think Edge and Orton, being # 1 and # 2, are not pushing it to the limit.
On the other hand, Lashley has put a lot of gas into him and I think a win here to position him against McIntyre doesn’t seem out of the question. I’m going to win with Lashley.
