WrestleMania 37 Lashley Retained WWE Title; McIntyre was knocked unconscious

Raymond James Stadium, Tampa

What a way to start WrestleMania! After the rain delayed the start of operations at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa for over half an hour, the wait was well worth it as the first fight was nothing more and nothing less than the WWE Championship between two of the most imposing gladiators, Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre, but you had to admit.

Bobby Lashley venció a Drew McIntyre

The biggest challenge in Lashley’s career came at the age of 44, for the first time as the highest monarch of the wrestling empire and against a rival who defeated Brock Lesnar in just five minutes in the previous edition of the Immortal Showcase.

A physical fight and sometimes fierce given the magnitude of both, punishments that would break a bone or at least leave him in bed for weeks. The fight was all that was promised, they punished themselves until exhausted, but McIntyre was never able to apply his Claymore Kick due to MVP interference, Lashley’s manager, who in that role outside the ring was key to his protégé’s victory.

WrestleMania 37: The Battle for the WWE Championship

When McIntyre looked set to regain the title after running the Future Shock DDT, MVP’s distraction allowed Bobby Lashley twice caught the Scot in his ruthless Hurt Lock with which he has surrendered to absolutely everyone he has dealt with.

This time, Drew didn’t give up, but the pressure from the frost was such that he was left unconscious on the canvas, so the referee called for the victory for Lashley, who thus retained the WWE Championship
