Woman’s body found next to railroad tracks near Santa Barbara Waterfront | Local news

A woman was found dead near the Santa Barbara waterfront on Wednesday, but Santa Barbara police do not suspect foul play.

Officers and other auxiliary personnel were dispatched at approximately 11:40 a.m. after a passerby found the body next to the railroad track near Milpas Street, Lieutenant Aaron Baker told Noozhawk.

“It looked like she had walked the tracks,” Baker said of the woman, who appeared to be in her mid-twenties to mid-thirties.

The woman’s name was not released pending positive identification and notification from family members, and the cause and circumstances of her death were pending, Baker said.

Detectives were called to the scene, Baker said, but added that “there is no reason to believe this is foul play.”

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office was sent to retrieve the body and will investigate the death.
