Woman wearing her own thong as a mask in the supermarket

Don’t get caught with your pants down – unless, of course, you need a face mask in an instant.

A woman in South Africa avoided being thrown from a Pick n Pay supermarket by using her panties as a mask.

Smartphone camera images obtained by Newsflash captured the bizarre interaction in which the shop guard asked the maskless woman, waiting with her cart of groceries at the till, to put on a face mask or leave the store.

Not having a mask to hand, the resourceful renegade throws herself off before pausing, presumably just as a light bulb went on in her head.

The next moment, the cheeky client can be seen reaching up under her paisley print skirt and then pulling her black thong underwear down her legs to her face, where she places it so that it covers her nose and mouth. .

“Happy?” she asks sarcastically. An astonished spectator can also be heard ‘good lord’ from behind the camera.

Meanwhile, another shopper standing on the line directly behind the now-trouserless woman encouraged the stunt.

“Well, personally I think it’s acceptable: it’s a mask,” she says. “And to be honest, I think the bacteria on your underpants is less than on the mask.”

“Well done,” she adds with a congratulatory clap. “Brilliant.”

Internet critics weren’t that impressed, however. Come on, grow up. What should your family think? asked a Facebook user, according to Newsflash.

Another added: ‘This is making me sick. She is aware of the law worldwide. We have a serious virus and (she thinks) a G-string will save her. “
