South Korean police are on the hunt for a female casino manager who disappeared after her employer discovered that 14.6 billion won ($ 13 million) in cash was missing from the resort’s suitcase.

Based in Hong Kong Landing International Development Ltd., which operates Jeju Shinhwa World, announced in a statement on its website that it could not reach the employee responsible for the casino funds. Shares of Landing in Hong Kong fell 7.6% to a record low on Monday, only to resurface at 6.4% on Tuesday.

Jeju Provincial Police confirmed that the investigation is underway on its anti-corruption team, but declined to elaborate. Jeju, an island off the south coast of South Korea, is a popular tourist destination with many casinos for foreigners.

The employee responsible for the funds was a Malaysian national who dropped out of work in late December after going on vacation, Yonhap News Agency reported. At about 280 kilograms (617 pounds), the missing money – all in cash – would be too heavy and bulky to be carried by one person from the casino, let alone transported off the island. Police secured camera footage of the casino, but the video was erased around the time the money might have disappeared, according to Yonhap.
