A woman in Australia was quite shocked to discover that her ready-made gingerbread house already had a resident – a huge spider.
Katie Gompertz, from Sydney, Australia, posted photos of the hunter spider in the gingerbread house package from Australian supermarket Woolworths on Monday.
One photo even shows that the spider had an egg bag with him in the box.
“Wait Woolworths, this is not what I ordered?” Gompertz wrote in her Facebook post. “Australia only, # 2020 only.”

“Buy a ready-made gingerbread house, they said, it will be easier than building one, they said!” she added. “Seriously, I don’t say this often, but why me?”

In the comments on the post, Woolworths responded to Gompertz apologizing for the “scary surprise.”
“Oh no Katie – this beast just wanted a home but this is definitely not the right thing for her!” the supermarket chain wrote. Thank you for letting us know and apologize [sic] for the scary surprise. After all, it’s Christmas, not Halloween. “

Although Woolworths suggested returning the gingerbread house and tenant to the nearest store’s service desk, Gompertz said putting the box in her car would be too risky.

“Woolies I love you and all your goodies, but I don’t put that in my car,” she wrote. “It’s 2020 so it will be clear that he will hatch his little offspring x 200 as soon as he gets into my car.”

“Maybe you can let your little friend (and her many babies) run around freely in a yard far, far away from your house, or some other gingerbread house,” added Woolworths.
