Woman arrested for assaulting an Uber driver after refusing to wear a mask

A woman caught on video harassing and coughing a California Uber driver has been arrested, while another woman plans to turn herself in to police, authorities said.

Las Vegas police have arrested the 24-year-old Malaysian king, who on Sunday is accused of assault and injury, conspiracy and violating the health and safety code for assaulting Uber driver Subhakar Khadka. according to San Francisco Police Department

Khadka documented the incident where King – who is sitting in red in the backseat – and another woman, identified by police as 24-year-old Arna Kimiai, coughed and shouted at him after she refused to wear face masks.

Kimiai has not yet been arrested, but her lawyers say she plans to turn herself in soon.

“We are pleased to hear that Ms. Kimiai intends to do the right thing and report herself to the nearest law enforcement agency, and we hope it happens soon,” Lieutenant Tracy McCray said in a statement.

“The behavior videotaped in this incident showed a heartless disregard for the safety and well-being of an essential service agent in the midst of a deadly pandemic. We take this behavior very seriously in San Francisco, and we are committed to ensuring that justice is done in this case, ”McCray continued.

The incident occurred after Khadka picked up Kimiai, King, and another woman in San Francisco around 12:45 PM on Sunday.

Khadka asked one of the women to put on a mask, but she refused, so he decided to cancel the ride.

An enraged Kimiai can then be seen on video yelling at the driver: “Fk the masks!”

At one point, Kimiai grabs Khadka’s phone from the center of the dashboard and then forcibly pulls off his face mask, footage shows.

Police say the women also sprayed pepper spray on Khadka’s car.

Both Uber and Lyft banned Kimiai as a result of the incident.
