Cora Vides was taken to Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, police spokesman Anthony Wagner told Noozhawk.

Vides, described as a college student in prison records, was in custody Monday afternoon, with $ 1 million bail, according to the sheriff.

The adult victim, whose name was not released, suffered “non-life-threatening but very serious injuries,” Wagner said, and was treated at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

He said officers responded to the hospital and a “crime scene” at 600 Street of Roberto Avenue, one block east of Meigs Road in a residential area just north of Cliff Drive.

Wagner said he could not provide additional details about the victim, including gender. However, sources have told Noozhawk that the victim is a young woman and also a student.

“This was an isolated incident,” said Wagner, “and there does not appear to be an immediate threat to the public.”

Monday was the Presidents’ holiday, so no criminal complaint has been filed in the case, the prosecutor said.
