Winter weather NC: Parts of central North Carolina could see snow, sleet, or sleet from Triangle to areas north of I-85 Sunday morning

RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) – Central North Carolina could get some more winters again this weekend.

A winter weather advisory from the triangle to the north and west comes into effect from Saturday evening to Sunday morning.

On Saturday the sun will give way to clouds all day long and there may be some snow gusts in the evenings, but nothing like the snow that fell a few days ago.

However, Sunday is a different story. A light winter mix is possible early in the morning from the Triangle to the north from about 7am to 9am, with sleet, snow or sleet. After that, it should turn to rain. ABC11 meteorologist Steve Stewart says ice can form north and west of I-85 to .20 ” and travel in these areas should be avoided tomorrow morning if possible.

Although the effect on the Triangle should be minimal, freezing rain can cause some slippery spots on the roads if the temperature is around freezing.
