Winter weather advisory until 4pm for parts of Metro Detroit: periods with snow today

DETROIT – Snow has been moving to southeast Michigan at about 2am since Tuesday, and there will be periods of snow falling during the day.

Most consistent snow falls north of 8 Mile Road, with less extra snow during the day south of there. Parts of Lenawee and Monroe counties can even see some freezing drizzle.

Overall, it looks like most Lenawee and Monroe counties will see less than an inch of snow, I-94 to M-59 / Hall Road probably about two inches, and north of the M-59 probably between 8 and 10 cm, as you get the longest snow.

Just like yesterday I put my forecast for specific snow amounts in your area into the 4ZONE forecast, which you can easily see for yourself at ClickOnDetroit.com and our FREE Local4Casters weather app.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until Tuesday 4:00 pm for areas generally south of the M-59, and until 11:00 pm for areas generally north of the M-59.

The temperature will only rise a few degrees today, perhaps near freezing (0 degrees Celsius), with a northeasterly wind turning north at 10 to 25 miles per hour.

Today’s sunrise is at 7:52 AM and today’s sunset is at 5:40 PM

Snow is decreasing on Tuesday evening, with lows in the low to mid 20s (-5 degrees Celsius).

On Wednesday mostly cloudy, with peaks in the upper 1920s (-2 to -1 degrees Celsius). Wednesday evening will be partly cloudy and much colder, with lows in the low to mid teens (-11 degrees Celsius).

Partly cloudy Thursday and Friday, with peaks in the mid 20s (-4 degrees Celsius), and lows again Thursday night in the low to mid teens (-11 degrees Celsius).

There are some changes offered by the computer models in terms of dealing with our next storm, and the biggest change is slowing it down. I now think we will be dry on Saturday, with increasing midday clouds. Heights in the upper 20s (-2 to -1 degrees Celsius).

Sunday looks cloudy, with maybe snow late in the day. Highlights in the low 1930s (0 degrees Celsius).
