Winter Storm in Texas: Here you can get free food and drink on Sunday in the Houston area

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – As the Houston area faces a recovery from the winter storm, multiple groups have hosted free water or food distribution events throughout the city.

The list below will be updated with new information as we receive it.

Sunday, February 21

Houston

HISD / Houston Food Bank food – 9am to 1pm – NRG Stadium
The Montrose Center – water and non-perishable goods – 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm – 401 Branard St.
Butler Stadium – water – 2 pm 13755 S. Main St.
Molina Healthcare from Texas / Viet Alley restaurant – food – 4 pm to 6 pm – 11210 Bellaire Blvd # 133.
Burns BBQ – food – 8307 De Prieststraat.
Alief Crump Stadium – food – 2 pm-4pm – 12321 High Star Dr.

The Houston Food Bank provides home delivery to the most vulnerable in need of immediate assistance. Households are provided with a home-delivered disaster bin and water if they:

  • Persons with disabilities

Their call center takes reservations through Monday, February 22 at 832-369-9390.

If you are disabled or don’t have reliable transportation to get to the water locations, you can sign up to have it delivered through CrowdSource Rescue.

Monday, February 22

Houston

  • HISD / Houston Food Bank Food Distribution – 10am to 1pm – Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center – 4400 W. 18th St.

As a result of the water problems, Houston is expected to remain under a boiling water order through Monday, Feb. 22. But the residents of many other cities suffer because they don’t have water to even cook.
