Winter Park declared an active COVID-19 outbreak site because 109 employees test positive

Outbreaks continue to heighten concern in Colorado ski resorts. This week’s outbreak list from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) lists 109 positive cases at Winter Park Resort in Grand County.

The outbreak, first reported on January 23, accounts for 6.4% of the 1,700 workers in the ski resort.

Grand County Health only reported the outbreak to the state this week.

In a joint statement from Grand County Health and Winter Park Resort earlier this week, they said the cases were not traceable to interaction with visitors, but were related to “social gatherings outside the workplace and joint housing.”

The latest report also reported outbreaks in Breckenridge and Keystone. The former has 12 active outbreaks with a total of 26 cases, and Keystone has four with 10 positive cases.
