About 98% of US households that received COVID-19 assistance checks last December will also gain access to the next set of payments fueled by President Joe Biden, according to a White House official.
Biden has said the Americans were promised an immediate payment of $ 2,000, but only 600 were approved in December. The president sees that pledge as a critical part of his $ 1.9 trillion support plan pending in the Senate. Biden’s proposal includes $ 1,400 in additional payments on a zero-income scale so that the money can be better channeled to the middle class and the poor.
In the current Senate initiative, the Biden administration estimates that 158.5 million households will receive direct payments, according to the White House official who spoke on condition of anonymity to comment on private conversations.
