Where to Buy an Xbox Series X: Get stock news for Best Buy, Amazon, Target, Walmart, and more

This story is part of Christmas gift guide 2020, CNET’s gift selection with expert advice, reviews and recommendations for the latest tech gifts for you and your family.

I’m trying one Xbox series X? You are not alone. Millions of gamers have been waiting for Xbox inventory product launch to come online, and frankly, Microsoft’s rollout of the new console on Nov. 10 is starting to get a bit of a tease. Microsoft’s next generation of game consoles – the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S – sold out more or less immediately on launch day, then sold out within minutes, every time there was some sort of inventory drop at major retailers. In part, this is clearly due to the insatiable consumer demand. But there is no doubt that it has a lot to do with it too resellers and bots that beat the average consumer.

Currently there is no inventory to be found anywhere. There have been a handful of inventory declines in stores such as Walmart and Best Buy in recent weeks. This week, Best Buy even announced some consoles for sale, which unsurprisingly sold out immediately. Walmart had its own stock drops two days in a row, both of which run out faster than it took me to type this. This means that for the time being all retailers are sold out again.

We’ll keep an eye on Twitter and other news sources, and we’ll keep you updated on what retailers like Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon, GameStop, and Target are up to. Still, it’s best to keep our expectations under control: Microsoft confirmed that in November Xbox stock could be tight until April 2021.

What follows is a list of the most important retailers selling the Xbox Series X. Our advice is to look for the retail price of $ 500 and avoid those expensive shopping bundles (which include external controllers, accessories, and games). Even better, if you don’t have a 4K TV and don’t expect to get one anytime soon, try the Xbox series S. instead to save $ 100.

Xbox Series X: Check the stock replenishment

Best Buy was the last retailer to return in the September pre-order days, but is now ready for your Xbox Series X purchase if stock permits.

Amazon sells the Xbox Series X and the cheaper Series S from the same product page.

GameStop had touted “Very limited number of Xbox Series X and S console bundles for sale,” but currently sold out.

Walmart does a good job of noting availability windows for PS5 and Xbox Twitter feed. You may also want to visit the store’s Xbox landing page for both new consoles.

If you want the latest Xbox Series X news, there’s probably nowhere better than Microsoft’s own Xbox Series X homepage. Here you will find the latest specifications, announced game titles, details about the new controller and more.

This is Target’s product page for the Xbox Series X.

Here you can buy the Xbox Series X from Newegg if the retailer has stock.

Are you getting desperate yet? Are you willing to pay a premium of hundreds of dollars over the list price? Listen, we wouldn’t do this and we don’t recommend that you do it. But if you want to go that path, StockX is a reputable eBay-style site that lets you buy and sell new Xbox and PS5 models – as long as you’re willing to shell out over $ 650.
