Where Michigan ranks in COVID-19 vaccinations, two months after the first dose

Michigan has been distributing and administering COVID-19 vaccines for nearly two months – and the pace is picking up.

Since December 14, when Michigan has administered its first COVID-19 doses to front-line workers at the University of Michigan, the state has reported more than 1.4 million doses in weapons since Feb. 11. The state has also reported that more than 2 million doses have been distributed.

Vaccine allocation is split between Pfizer and Moderna, with slightly more doses of Moderna being distributed across the state starting this week.

According to data from the New York Times, Michigan is ranked 8th among US states for the number of shots given and 10th for distribution.

Currently, about 10% of Michigan’s population has received at least one dose of vaccine. Only 4% have received two doses, but of course this comes weeks after the first dose. Only Alaska, New Mexico and West Virginia are above 12% for the first dose.

Michigan also ranks 11th among the U.S. states for doses used, with 74%, as of Feb. 11.

In the US, an average of 1.6 million doses are administered per day.
