Where can you get the Johnson & Johnson vaccine in Illinois? – NBC Chicago

Health officials expect an increase in Johnson & Johnson’s one-time COVID vaccine in Illinois in the coming days, but where can you find it?

While the state has not specified where the influx of doses will be delivered specifically, there are already some locations that offer the option of receiving the vaccine.

Jewel-Osco, for example, allows customers to choose which vaccine they want to schedule an appointment for, when available.

On the supermarket chain’s vaccine planner, customers can choose whether to check for appointments with the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine with two injections, or the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

“Osco Drug Pharmacy is offering customers a choice of vaccines based on the allotment received,” a company spokesperson told NBC 5. “We will add appointments for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine as stock becomes available.”

Meanwhile, Illinois announced Friday that it is sending “Rapid Response Vaccination Teams” to five counties where epidemiologists “have determined the need for rapid dosing to smooth out rising trends,” said IDPH. Those teams will administer one-time Johnson & Johnson vaccinations to residents on top of what the counties have already allocated.

Those counties are: Carroll, Ogle, Boone, Lee and Whiteside. You can find details about dosages and making an appointment here.

Residents can also look out for vaccine events or massive vaccination sites across the state.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker received his COVID-19 vaccine at the Illinois State Fairground on Wednesday, where he said he had received a Johnson & Johnson shot.

Earlier this month, Aurora held a one-day mass vaccination clinic in partnership with Walgreens, where participants received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and Des Plaines launched a mass vaccination site that initially administered the single vaccine.

According to Pritzker, doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are expected to increase sharply in the coming days.

“We expect a significant number, millions of doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to begin in the coming days,” the governor said at an unrelated news conference Friday. “And then hopefully a continued increase at Johnson & Johnson, and we will continue to see an increase at Pfizer and Moderna.”
