Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak accidentally replies during on-air slip-up – but no one noticed

Having hosted “Wheel of Fortune” for decades, it makes sense that Pat Sajak could occasionally make a mistake.

One of those errors occurred during a recent episode, in which the longtime television personality gave away a bonus round answer.

One participant had managed to scrape together a handful of letters for a relatively short puzzle, the board said “_ _ _ TE _ RAN _ L _.”

“Yikes,” said Sajak, 74, after a letter was turned over. “Well, I’d rather be here than there, to be honest.”

Sajak seemed to have caught himself in the wrong, as his voice dropped when he said “frankly,” which was the complete answer to the puzzle.

Fortunately for the host, the contestant missed the faux pas and didn’t guess the answer correctly.

In a video shared after the show aired, Sajak addressed the accident.

“It shows that people are concentrating and not paying attention to me,” he explained. “… It’s funny what your mouth says your brain says you shouldn’t.”

He made fun of himself and added, “Honestly, see you next time.”

The error comes on the heels of the host who faints a bit for seemingly mocking a participant with a speech impediment.

The game show host tried to keep things light during a February episode when he introduced contestants. While doing this, Sajak spoke to contestant Chris Brimble. After explaining to the host what he does for a living, it became clear to viewers and the host that Brimble is speaking with a slight lisp.

Sajak listened to him and even commented on the importance of his job in bringing technology to older adults. However, the host closed the short interview with “I you” instead of “I understand.”

While Brimble just laughed at the moment, viewers were upset at the Sajak’s apparent mockery of the contestant’s speech impediment and expressed frustration on Twitter, calling the incident “ horrible ” and “ insulting. ”
