The first stage of COVID-19 vaccines is for:

  • Healthcare personnel with direct patient contact
  • Residents and staff of long-term care facilities
  • Persons aged 65 and over

The county received its first allocation of the vaccine Monday (Dec. 28). The first shipment was intended for healthcare providers.

The health department expected other priority groups – especially those over the age of 65 – to be able to begin vaccinations in the “next few weeks”.

Healthcare professionals who do not work directly for a hospital or long-term care facility can receive the vaccination on Saturday (Jan. 2) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Flagler County Fairgrounds. ID was required.

The next priority group is the over-65s. Flagler County residents in that age group “can make arrangements to be vaccinated starting in early January,” the press release read. “The timing will depend on when the health department receives the next amount of vaccine, ideally as early as next week.”
