What Biden had to say about Cuomo’s sexual harassment scandal

President Biden on Sunday commented on Governor Andrew Cuomo’s growing sexual harassment scandal – he declined to request his resignation, saying he wants to see what becomes of the independent investigation into the allegations.

The president was asked by a White House reporter if he thinks the Democrat should step down with three terms, according to a report from the president’s press pool.

“I think the research is ongoing and we need to see what it brings us,” said Biden.

Earlier on Sunday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi similarly refused to summon Cuomo to resign, only saying he had to “look into his heart” to decide whether to step down.

The allegations facing Cuomo have sparked an investigation by Attorney General Letitia James, and the New York State Assembly has opened an investigation into impeachment.

A number of Democrats representing New York in Congress – including sens. Kristen Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer – have called on Cuomo to resign.

Cuomo, 63, has continued to deny the claims and vowed not to submit to “canceling culture” and to resign.
