Gov. Cuomo announced this week that cinemas may reopen on March 5 at a capacity of 25%, with no more than 50 people per screen.

AMC Theaters, which has two locations on the Upper West Side, said it plans to reopen immediately on March 5, with several security measures, including social distance, mandatory mask wearing, and improved air filtration. “Since reopening our first theaters with AMC Safe & Clean in August, AMC has welcomed nearly 10 million moviegoers across the country without a single reported case of COVID-19 broadcasts among moviegoers in our theaters,” the company said in a statement. press release.

However, film at Lincoln Center won’t reopen its theaters just yet. “While we are aware of the recent announcement by the Governor’s Office that New York City cinemas are reopening, in the interest of the safety of our staff and audiences, Film at Lincoln The downtown theaters remain closed, ”the theater said. “We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will share more information about our plans to reopen if possible.”
