The salsa genre mourns the death of the conguero Jimmie Morales, who accompanied great figures on stage, such as Gilberto Santa Rosa, Willie Rosario, Juan Luis Guerra and Batacumbele.
Morales, as reported, died at home this morning and the causes of death have been disconnected. He was 64 years old.

For many years the percussionist was the conguero of the “Caballero de la salsa” and maintained a great and close friendship.
Another post on Facebook from user Melori de Morales revealed the physical departure of the musician who was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, but grew up in Bayamón from the age of nine.
“To anyone who has met Jimmie in person or through music, we will let them know that he has left us. He flew into Heavenly Father’s arms. Our family has been devastated by this unexpected nightmare. Jimmie died at home surrounded by his wife Naomi and their daughter Amanda, ”the Morales message said.
Morales has built a career spanning 40 years, accompanying various salsa orchestras, Latin Jaz groups and singers.
One of his legacies is the creation of a conga model bearing his name. The internationally renowned percussion instrument company REMO launched the “Jimmie Morales Signature Series” tumbadoras in 2005.
In 2016, he represented Puerto Rico at the China Drum Summit in Beijing City. The event brought together some of the best drummers in the world. During that trip he also gave percussion lessons in Taiwan.
A week ago, he shared one of his memorable presentations in 2019 on his social networks.
