Webinar Health and wellbeing in projects and structures: Sustainable Development Goal 3
The Latin American Steel Association (Alacero) presents the webinar “Health and Wellbeing in Projects and Structures – ODS 3”, a virtual gathering for construction professionals and students from architecture schools in Latin America who want to learn more about health and wellness issues in architecture projects, under SDG 3 – Health and Wellbeing of the UN Agenda 2030, theme of the 14th Alacero 2021 Steel Architecture Contest.
The webinar will focus on transforming the industry towards creating and developing healthy and sustainable buildings. It was set on April 20 at 10 p.m. UTC (7 p.m. in Brazil and 5 p.m. in Colombia) and its main pillar is the third Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), one of 17 set by the United Nations General Assembly as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. To address the topic, the event will deliver projects and resources that can be used by students as suggestions or inspiration for their projects in the context of the region.
The webinar is hosted by Juanita Álvarez, Head of Engagement & Networks at the World Green Building Council, which focuses on fostering collaboration between Green Building Councils on a global and regional scale. Specializing in sustainability for companies in the construction industry, Juanita holds a master’s degree from New York University in business communication, and aims to advance the transformation of the construction industry towards sustainability by sharing best practices and generating impact through its global projects.
“It is imperative to put people at the center of design and construction, to provide spaces that contribute to the health and well-being of those who live there. Our goal is to provide tools to promote healthy, equitable and resilient buildings, communities and cities, ”said Juanita Álvarez.
She will give us her experience on what tools can be applied at the time of project conception, and will also share a panorama of successful examples of exemplary buildings from our region. Previously, Álvarez served as Manager of the Network of the Americas, in 16 councils of the region to achieve the goals of reducing its carbon footprint 2030-2050, promoting healthy and sustainable buildings, and developing government policies for energy and resource efficiency encourage savings in several Latin American countries.
