The United States Federal Government and the hostels in border states prepare to receive what could be a new wave migrants with new processing centers and more resources to help families, including covid-19 testing.
In the past two weeks, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has reported the arrival of large groups at the border, particularly in Texas, where the federal agency has already begun to release dozens of these families. Norma Pimentel, Executive Director of Catholic Charities of the Valley of the Rio Grande – an agency from the Diocese of Brownsville, Texas – said border guards began freeing the families two weeks ago.

From that moment on, inn that manages the agency in town Rio Grande receives an average of 80 families per day, the majority of which are immigrants from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador; but families also come from other countries, such as Haiti.
“We only see that families they are released: father, mother and their children, ”he said.
She indicated that the Dutch DPA contacted her directly and informed her that the families was about to be released, so they immediately began to prepare. The inn has translators and volunteers helping their migrants families in the United States and buy bus tickets to reach their final destinations.
