Janet Yellen will face the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday for her hearing at the post of Secretary of the Treasury. President-elect Joe Biden announced the nomination earlier this month.
The former Federal Reserve Chairman is expected to voice her views on a variety of topics, from the incoming government’s dollar policy to her views on the need for stimulus measures to offset the economic consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic.
While working at the Fed, Yellen gained a reputation as a consensus builder and advocate of low interest rates, although during her tenure the Fed took the first steps to normalize policy from the extreme accommodation during the financial crisis.
