Washington Nationals set to play doubleheader against Atlanta Braves, eye grid moves amid COVID-19 outbreak

The Nationals and Braves will make up for their game, which was postponed on Monday due to the coronavirus outbreak in Washington, as part of a doubleheader Wednesday.

Major League Baseball announced the change on Monday while Nationals-players were training in Nationals Park.

Four players on the Nationals tested positive for COVID-19 and seven others were quarantined after contact tracking determined they might have been exposed.

The Nationals plan to add infielder Luis Garcia, outfielder Yadiel Hernandez, catcher Tres Barrera, righthanded Kyle McGowin and lefthanded to their 26-man squad for Tuesday’s season opener against the Braves, The Athletic said.

Star shortstop Trea Turner, first baseman Josh Bell and catcher Yan Gomes were not among the players who attended Monday’s practice, according to multiple reports.

The 2019 World Series champions have one more game to play this season. Their three-game opening series against the New York Mets was postponed completely. Nationals and Braves will play two seven-inning games back-to-back on Wednesday, with the first starting at 12:05 PM ET.
