Walmart has commented on the next addition of the Xbox Series X and PS5, and according to the massive retailer, there will be another addition to both the next generation of PlayStation and Xbox consoles soon. Unfortunately, the retailer doesn’t disclose how soon, but he does note that it will be another online replenishment rather than an in-store replenishment. Furthermore, the retailer notes that he is doing everything he can to ensure that the replenishment does not end up in the hands of bots and scalpers by constantly updating his anti-bot software on his site.
In fact, the retailer suggests that he has or will ask lawmakers to do something to prevent bots from wreaking havoc on retail sites and gobbling up the precious inventory of in-demand items, noting that he wants customers to have equal access to getting the products they want.
“We will have more next-gen consoles online soon, and we will continue to work hard to get them into the hands of as many customers as possible,” said Jerry Geisler, Chief Information Security Officer, Walmart Global Tech. “We hope others in the retail industry will join us by asking lawmakers to do more to prevent these unwanted bots on retail sites, so that customers have equal access to the products they want.”
In addition to not defining “coming soon” with specific details, the retailer does not say when they will provide those specific details. That said, the retailer has so far warned customers in advance every time it pushed a replenishment from one of the consoles.
This week, Walmart pushed new stocks for both the PS5 and Xbox Series X, and while the stock went extremely quickly, the process was much smoother compared to Best Buy and GameStop, which also sold through new stock this week. All of this is to say that if you’re still trying to get a PS5 or Xbox Series X, Walmart could very well be your best bet.
