Walgreens fixes website problem so Vermonters over 65 can register for vaccinations

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Walgreens has restored its website after a technical issue Thursday prevented Vermonters 65 and older from registering for COVID vaccinations.

Walgreens told Vermont officials it would be ready to register Vermonters in that age group on Thursday. But when Vermonters started registering, both the Walgreens website and phone system said people had to be 70 or older to book an appointment.

The company has now solved the problem with its website and people over 65 can now sign up for an appointment. People may need to clear their web browser / cache or reload the page once opened.

The telephone system has not yet been restored. Once updated correctly, Vermonters can call 1-800-WALGREENS.

For vaccinations you need an appointment at Walgreens, there are no walk-ins.

Walgreens received an unexpected dose increase of 4,300 from the CDC.

Officials in Vermont open registration for the over-65s on Monday at 8:15 a.m.

Kinney Drugs will also open their online registration on Monday.

Anyone who was previously eligible for a vaccination will remain eligible and can now make an appointment.
