‘Vote for another 4 years – or more’

RICHMOND, Va. – Dozens of parents and community members gathered in Southside Plaza Saturday morning to gather for Jason Kamras, Superintendent of Richmond Public Schools.

“I’ll write Keep Kamras hashtag and then I’ll be writing for another four years,” said Richard Sebastian, parent of Richmond.

The group took part in a car parade through the city calling on the school board to extend Kamras’s contract for another four years.

“He did a great job. Just communicate, build community and really care about the kids, “Sebastian said.” He has a strategic plan that we’ve never had before. “

Parents and students will meet on Saturday, February 6, 2021 to extend the contract of Jason Kamras, Superintendent of Richmond Public Schools, for at least four more years.

“We feel he has been in all of those areas and represents all communities and he is working on all issues that are important to parents,” added Pam Booker, another parent from Richmond.

Kamras’ contract expires on June 30, but the school board has yet to make a decision about his future.

According to the Richmond Free Press, half of the school administrators in Richmond are in favor of a four-year extension for Kamras, while the other half are in favor of no more than two.

“He sends out an RPS right away, lets us know if anyone has a virus or something like that, and checks himself out,” said Latisha Erby.

Erby, who has four children in Richmond public schools and helped organize Saturday’s parade, said she was happy with his leadership during the pandemic and the decision to keep RPS virtual.

“I have the feeling that we should stay virtual and online. Even though it’s not easy, it’s safer, ”Erby said.

She just hopes the board makes the right decision to move forward.

“Come Monday, I hope and pray that everyone votes for four years or more,” said Erby. “I work with that.”
