McNeill, a two-way lineman who was recruited by the former Tennessee staff as a possible defensive lineman, chose the Vols over Minnesota and Memphis on Dec. 7 after getting his first SEC offering from Tennessee on Nov. 19. Most teams recruited him as an attacking lineman, and he was still able to play on either side of the ball for the Vols, one of the few Power Five programs to offer him after seeing his senior season movie. McNeill signed with Tennessee in December and will enroll in May.

Crawford had long been a target for Hipel’s staff at UCF, and Tennessee didn’t wait long to reach Crawford after hiring Hipel, bringing him on National Signing Day after chasing him for less than a week. He planned to sign during or after his upcoming junior college season, which will be played this spring, before the Vols contact him. An athletic outfit expected to play the left tackle at Butler this season, Crawford will arrive in Tennessee as a red-shirt sophomore with three seasons remaining to qualify.
