Viral Videos: Giant ‘fireball’ falls from the sky and crashes into the Chinese province

A suspected low-flying meteor illuminated the sky in the city of Yushu in northwest China in Qinghai province on Dec. 23, leaving residents stunned and surprised. Video of the rare natural phenomenon showing a bright fireball skimming across the dark sky and illuminating the dark sky was widely uploaded on Weibo and Pear, the top social media platforms.

In a video, as the blindly bright fireball travels through an area, some of the footages circulating around the Internet show the burning object rapidly descending into hills and fields.

China’s Earthquake Networks Center said through its social media account that a suspected car landed at the border between Nangqian County and Yusu County at 7:25 am, but no one was injured. Stuff reported.

Following the incident, the government of Nangqian Province told the media that the ‘unidentified flying object’ that appeared early that morning flew to West Lake Qamdo, and no wreckage or debris has been found in Nangqian County, locally. NTDTV reported.

In traditional Chinese culture, meteorites from the sky are usually considered a precursor to major events or social unrest, and most of them are ominous, Epoch Times reported that they explained the fear and panic among people online.

According to NASA’s Fireball and Bolide Data from JPL’s CNEOS, it also detected fireball impact in the region. According to the data on the official site, the calculated total impact energy was 9.5 Kt and the speed recorded by the sensors was 13.6 km / s.

Earlier this month, there was a similar event in Japan, and videos of the fireball illuminating the sky began circulating widely online.
