Get ready to start another Zoom Awards season.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association will announce nominations for the Golden Globe Awards 2021 on Wednesday, officially launching the awards season. As a first for Globes, the February 28 ceremony will be broadcast from both coasts.

The nominations, which honor the best performances and productions in film and television in 2020 – the year when we needed entertainment more than ever – will be announced via live stream from 8:36 a.m. by past winners Sarah Jessica Parker and Taraji P. Henson.

Hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, the Golden Globes will air Sunday, February 28. .

This year also marks a first for the ceremony, which will be broadcast from two different coasts – instead of Beverly Hills, California, where it is typically held. Fey will host from Rockefeller Center’s Rainbow Room in New York, while Poehler will be at its usual location, the Beverly Hilton.

The kinks in the main categories are big signs of what’s coming later for the Oscars – although this year will see a much wider gap between ceremonies. The 2021 Academy Awards, usually held in February, were postponed to Sunday, April 25, in the hope that theaters would reopen so that more films would be eligible. Instead, the rules were changed, making streaming-only movies eligible for the first time.

While the Globes show format is still unknown, the Academy Awards will definitely be a “personal” affair at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California, the Academy declared in December.

This year’s Globes marks the fourth time that Fey, 50, and Poehler, 49, will share hosting tasks together. The pair previously played hosts at the Globes from 2013 to 2015, although this is the first time the former “SNL” co-stars will do it during a pandemic and from other sides of the country.

Jane Fonda, 83, will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 78th annual ceremony, the highest honor given to a “person who has made an incredible impact” in film. Norman Lear, 98, receives the Carol Burnett Award for his iconic contributions to television history.
