The countryman’s body arrived in El Salvador on a flight from Cancun, Mexico on Saturday. “This is hard to digest,” said the family of Victoria, who was murdered by Mexican police during an arrest.

On Saturday morning, the remains of Victoria Salazar arrived at “Óscar Arnulfo Romero” International Airport and were then taken to Sonsonate to be monitored by her family. Victoria was murdered on March 27 by four police officers in Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

The coffin containing the 36-year-old woman’s remains arrived in El Salvador on a plane to which the victim’s mother, Rosibel Arriaza, and Victoria’s two daughters, minors, were also traveling.

Alfonso Olivares, Victoria’s father, made brief statements to the media shortly after receiving his daughter’s remains at Sonsonate. Olivares said the family is shocked and is trying to come to terms with the pain caused by the murder of Victoria, who had a visa to stay in Mexico as a migrant.
