Valorant reveals new agent for Episode 2

Riot Games has revealed a new agent Appreciation in addition to the release of Episode 2, due out on January 12th. The new character is called Yoru and it looks like he could be a big change for the game when he arrives. The character provides players with some unique abilities to use in the game, which should make playing against Yoru a bit difficult! The character can teleport thanks to his Gatecrash ability, hide from opponents with Dimensional Rift, or use Blindside to throw an unstable dimensional fragment that blinks when connecting to a surface.

Perhaps Yoru’s most interesting skill is Fakeout. As Yoru, players can create an echo that resembles footsteps. As Yoru, players can send the footsteps forward or put them in place to throw opponents away. Sound plays an important role in any FPS title, and this capability will make it much more difficult for opponents to know if the sounds they are hearing are legitimate or part of an extensive ruse!

A cinematic trailer for Episode 2, featuring Yoru, can be found in the trailer embedded below.

Riot Games calls Yoru an “Infiltrator Duelist,” and his abilities seem to reflect that fact. It will be interesting to see how Appreciation players go to the new agent and how they find creative uses for the character’s abilities! The addition of a new character to a game like this often brings about a big change in the playing field, and part of the fun is watching players get around the challenge.

Released last year, Appreciation is a team-based tactical FPS. The main mode of the game features players in a five-on-five competition. The game currently features 13 agents with different abilities to choose from, and Yoru’s release will increase that number by one. Tuesday release of Appreciation A new Battle Pass will also be made available in Episode 2, which is valid until March 1. Players who missed some of the previous skins in the game can also check out the Run-It-Back bundle, which will include some previous offerings.

Appreciation is now available on PC. You can view all of our previous coverage of the game here.
