MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – As the COVID-19 vaccine continues to roll out, we’ll learn more about the potential side effects after each dose.
Some patients experience flu symptoms up to a rash, while others have no symptoms at all.

The Centers for Disease Control say that common side effects of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine can include arm pain at the injection site.
But you can also have some more uncomfortable side effects.
“I thought so, I was wondering if it was going to be a long term?” Aprillee said.
Aprillee received her first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine on January 15. She says that a few days later, she noticed that a red lesion had formed around the injection site.
She said it wasn’t painful, but it was itchy.
She is one of an unknown number of patients showing up across the country reporting a rash following the Moderna vaccine called “ the COVID arm. ”
“We’ve seen reactions like this, even with other vaccines,” said Dr. George Morris. “We know that when you get a flu vaccine, a lot of people will have a local reaction in their arm. Tetanus Vaccines. Vaccines against shingles. “

Morris says the Moderna arm response occurs in less than 10% of patients and should eventually go away.
Other people we spoke to reported more general symptoms or no symptoms at all.
‘The body hurts everywhere and it is just very cold. Very tired and then as the night went on I even developed a mild fever, ”said Hannah Rinken, a health worker.
The CDC says these types of symptoms are normal and a sign that your body is building protection.
Health officials recommend applying a cool washcloth to the injection site if you feel uncomfortable, and drinking plenty of fluids and rest if you develop a fever.
“If you can schedule your admission on Friday and have the weekend to recover, that may be the best plan of action,” said Rinken.
The people who reported having symptoms said they would take the vaccine again.

The CDC has a central portal where people can report any symptoms of the vaccines.
