Utah reports one new death, 447 new COVID-19 cases

More than 30,000 vaccines have been administered in Utah in the past day

The Utah Department of Health reported 447 new cases of coronavirus and one new death on Saturday as the number of Utahns vaccinated continued to increase.

Vaccinations reported in the past day / total vaccinations 31,100 / 1,481,363.

Cases reported in the past day 447.

Deaths reported in the past day • 1.

Death was a man between the ages of 65 and 84 in Utah County who was hospitalized at the time.

Hospital admissions reported in the past day • 132. That is six less than Friday. Of those currently hospitalized, 44 are in intensive care units – two fewer than on Friday.

Tests reported in the past day • 5,456 were tested for the first time. A total of 12,801 were tested.

Percentage of positive tests • According to the state’s original method, the seven-day moving average is 6.8%.

The state’s new method counts all test results, including repeated tests from the same person. The seven-day moving average on Saturday by that measure was 3.4%.

Totals so far • 386,997 cases; 2,132 dead; 15,593 hospital admissions; 2,405,866 tests.
