Utah is registering 338 new cases of COVID-19, the lowest since September

Daily COVID-19 cases in Utah hit its lowest since Sept. 9, and only one new death was reported Monday.

The seven-day mean of vaccine doses in the arms rose slightly on Sunday, after falling for most of the week. The average on Sunday was 12,411 doses per day – an increase from the average of 11,937 on Saturday, but well below the average of 15,723 on February 14.

One of the reasons for last week’s decline, a Utah Department of Health spokesman said Monday, is that a shipment of 36,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine the state expected to arrive last week was not due to bad weather in the United States. the East. Those doses are expected to arrive in Utah Monday or Tuesday, the spokesman said.

Hospital admissions reported in the past day • 237. That’s four less than Sunday. Of those currently hospitalized, 99 are in intensive care units – one less than on Sunday.

Tests reported in the past day • 5,931.

Percentage of positive tests • According to the state’s original method, the rate is 11.7%. That is lower than the seven-day average of 13.3%.

The new method counts all test results, including repeated tests from the same person. Monday’s rate is now at 5.7%, lower than the seven-day average of 6.0%.
