The U.S. Health and Human Services Department stopped a Baltimore manufacturer from making AstraZeneca Plc’s Covid-19 vaccine on Saturday, days after the facility ruined 15 million doses of Johnson & Johnson-developed injections, the New York Times reported, under mention of two senior federal health officials. that were not identified.

The move came after Maryland-based biotech company Emergent BioSolutions Inc. accidentally mixed up the ingredients of the two vaccines, forcing regulators to delay approving the plant’s output, the paper said.

The department also asked Johnson & Johnson to install a new team to oversee all aspects of production at the facility, the paper said, citing officials. The company confirmed the changes, saying it “took full responsibility,” said NYT.

AstraZeneca will work with Biden’s administration to find an alternative site, the paper said, citing the drug manufacturer.
