US deport newborn babies with their mothers

Miami. – It Customs and Border Protection Service (CBP) has been deported in recent months U.S to newborn babies in the country along with their mothers, who were undocumented immigrants who had just crossed the border, the media reported this Saturday The interception.

Last March, the vice president, Mike Pence, ordered the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to use their emergency powers seal the borders of the United States, despite the reluctance of the main line health agency of the country, according to press releases.

Under the pretense of corona pandemicthus, the Trump administration has further tightened its immigration policy through the majority of migrants who came to the United States in search of asylum or that they were detained while entering illegally, including minors who were not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

However, a judge in November ordered the government to stop deportation migrant children unaccompanied without being able to apply for refugee or asylum.

But this decision didn’t affect adults, such as those interviewed by The Intercept, three asylum-seeking mothers who crossed the border while pregnant and gave birth in U.S. hospitals, so their children are legally U.S. citizens, although that’s not why they were no longer expelled from the country shortly after their birth and without receiving their citizenship documentation.

Honduran Juana told The Intercept that when she felt contractions, she crossed the border in search of help and was taken to a US hospital, where her son was born, but was sent back to Mexico after discharge.

“The law does not allow the rapid deportation of US citizens,” Nicole Ramos of Al Otro Lado, a legal and social agency investigating the deportations, told the media that she is aware of eight mothers in this situation.

At the public event announcing the Covid-19 border closure last March, Acting Secretary of Homeland Security, Chad Wolf, assured that the CDC had determined that the coronavirus posed a “grave threat” to immigrants, agents and officers and the U.S. people.

However, an investigation by The Wall Street Journal found that, according to a review of internal government documents and interviews with people involved in the trial, this measure was “promoted by immigration officials in the records of senior CDC officials despite objections.”

Currently, Al Otro Lado is working to ensure that children at least receive their US passport and birth certificate, and a complaint they trust leads to an official investigation to prevent the accelerated deportation of civilians from happening again.
