Urshela da HR and Yankees defeated Braves

NEW YORK (Neth.) – The New York Yankees broke their five-game lost streak on Tuesday, thanks to some hitting, a wild pitch and a basesloaded walk, in a 3-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

Colombian Gio Urshela tied the score with a homer in the fifth inning off Charlie Morton, and the Yankees won with five basehits to bring their total to 16 in the last four games.

New York went 8-2 with runners in scoring position, but improved to 6-10. He is still in last place in the AL East, but avoided what would have been his worst start to the season since 1972.

Tyler Matzek (0-2), who returned to the majors last year after an absence since 2015, walked pinch-hitter Aaron Hicks at the start of the eighth inning. DJ LeMahieu and Aaron Judge followed with two singles to load the bases.

It was only the second inning with more than one hit by the Yankees in two games.

Clint Frazier batted in place of Brett Gardner, while Nate Jones came on for a wild pitch that missed catcher Travis d’Arnaud.

Hicks scored to make it 2-1. Frazier flew a balloon to second place, before Giancarlo Stanton was given an intentional walk.

Gleyber Torres hit a short flyout to midfield and Mike Ford, in his first game of the season, got four pitches for another run.

The Nicaraguan Jonathan Loaisiga (2-0) took the victory and the Cuban Aroldis Chapman made the save.

For the Braves, Venezuelans Ehire Adrianza 4-1 with RBI, Pablo Sandoval 2-1. The Dominican Marcell Ozuna 3-0. The Panamanian Johan Camargo 1-0. The Cuban Guillermo Heredia.

For the Yankees, the Venezuelan Torres is 4-0. The Dominican Gary Sánchez 4-0. Colombian Urshela 3-2 with a run scored and an RBI.
