The University of Puerto Rico (UPR) has extended to February 17 the deadline for new students to apply for admission to begin studying for the next academic year, which begins in August 2021, University Institution President Dr. Jorge reported Tuesday. Haddock.
To date, the UPR has received 8,643 applications for admission, which equates to 2,503 additional applications from last year on the same date.
“The past year was atypical for high school students and their families, as well as for the entire education system. For this reason, we have extended the admissions process to support them and give them more time to meet the requested requirements. The Director of the UPR Admissions Office, Ivonne Calderón, in turn explained that the admission application process is simple and flexible, which is carried out online through the portal upr.edu/admisiones/.
“Although the process is virtual, the university has specialized staff to guide and clarify the student’s questions via email and telephone. We want to support them in the application process and ensure that they enjoy the unique experience of studying at the UPR, ”said Calderón.

Calderón stated that the admission criteria “remain the same: the student’s overall average and the result of the university entrance test”. However, students can register before receiving the test results.
