UPMC and Penguins Team Up for Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine Drive-Up Clinic – CBS Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Mills Galleria in Tarentum will be the site of a Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine drive-thru clinic.

This is the only single injection vaccine available.

“A lot of people want the Johnson & Johnson vaccine because it’s an opportunity,” said Mark Sevco, president of the Children’s Hospital, who leads UPMC’s massive vaccination efforts.

You must have an appointment and the UPMC staff will administer the vaccine.

“Fast, efficient, reliable,” says Sevco. “Just as effective as Moderna and Pfizer in preventing and alleviating hospitalizations and deaths. So it is really a vaccine that is in high demand. “

This clinic is for adults only. Everyone in priority groups 1A, 1B and 1C is accessible.

“We vaccinate about 700 people per hour,” says Sevco.

Children’s Hospital, in partnership with the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Allegheny County Health Department, plans to vaccinate 12,000 people.

“Six thousand new appointments per day,” says Sevco.

Everyone who is vaccinated must wait in the car for 15 minutes and be checked by nurses and volunteers.

It’s also a bit like the race of vaccine versus variance. We really need to address this and get people vaccinated, ”said Sevco.

The clinic will take place on April 14 and April 15. If you do not get an appointment, you can still register online. That way you can be scheduled when availability opens on other sites.
