Apple has launched macOS Big Sur 11.2. And WWhile you shouldn’t hesitate when it comes to major system updates, know that there are no new features in this release to worry about – iThey are all bug fixes and security updates. However, if you have a brand new M1 Mac that you use with an external display, you may want to prioritize this patch today.
As always, installing the update is easy: Click on the Apple logo in the top left corner of macOS Big Sur and go to System Preferences> Software Update. You’ll see this screen as soon as you click through to start the installation, which only takes up about 3.66 GB of space:
And here are the highlights of what Apple is fixing in macOS Big Sur 11.2:
- External displays can show a black screen when connected to a Mac mini (M1, 2020) using an HDMI to DVI converter
- Edits to Apple ProRAW photos in the Photos app may not be saved
- iCloud Drive can be disabled after disabling the iCloud Drive Desktop & Documents Folders option
- System preferences may not be unlocked when you enter your administrator password
- The Globe key may not display the Emojis and Symbols panel when pressed
Elsewhere, Apple also lists various security updates you’ll find in macOS Big Sur 11.2. There are quite a few, including a nice one where “A user who has been removed from an iMessage group can rejoin the group,” as Apple describes.
