With the rumor of the AirPods 3 launching this month, we are seeing an increasing number of leaks showing the design of the new earbuds. Renders were shared yesterday and today 52 audio has published a series of images that allegedly feature the third generation AirPods.

As with previous leaks, the AirPods 3 have an AirPods Pro-like design with a shorter stem and a more rounded body design that is nearly identical to the AirPods Pro. The stem will still be slightly longer than the AirPods Pro stem, but it will be much shorter than the irAirPods stem.

Rumors have suggested the AirPods have 3 clickable silicone ear tips for a more comfortable and customizable in-ear fit, just like the AirPods Pro, but that doesn’t seem to be the design shown in the images. The AirPods 3 case will be similar in design to the AirPods Pro case. It’s wider than the standard AirPods case to accommodate the new body design, and not as long as it no longer has to fit on such long stems. It seems there is no room at the top for silicone earplugs, suggesting a tip-less design as well.

While the AirPods 3 will look like the AirPods Pro, rumors suggest they won’t have Pro-level features. Active noise cancellation is limited to AirPods Pro, and other features, such as spatial audio, can also be a premium feature.
AirPods 3 are expected to continue to feature an Apple H1 chip and all the standard functionality currently available for the AirPods 2 and the AirPods Pro, such as fast device pairing, pressure relief functionality, fast switching, clear call quality enabled by beamforming microphones, and long distance.

52 audio believes the PAirPods 3 will be priced at $ 150. AirPods 2 will be sold for $ 159 without a wireless charging case and $ 199 with a wireless charging case. It’s not clear if Apple will offer both options with the AirPods 3, but it seems likely that Qi-based wireless charging will be the default option.
AirPods 3 are expected to be ready for use in early 2021. In fact, rumors suggest Apple could hold an event on March 23rd, and if it does, it’s likely that event will see the debut of the new AirPods.
